So the weather outside is frightful. People are calling it thundersnow or something. Anyway, it’s supposed to snow quite a bit tonight, starting about now, and people have begun the expected panic about rush hour commutes, etc. My office has emptied out.
This gets in the way of my training for the evening. I was planning to head back to Wednesday night track for the first time since October, but now I don’t think that’s such a smart plan. Though I imagine a few hardcore people will make it out no matter the weather, driving up to AU and running in the miserable sleet while I’m not 100 percent…well…
So I’ll have to rethink my options. That’s the thing about training — it requires a lot of flexibility (and patience) to handle unexpected events, like late work nights, bad weather, illness, etc. But if you’ve got the right equipment and a good sense of humor, you can improvise and make the most of any situation. A night on the trainer? Some abs or yoga? With advance planning (or keeping some gear at work), a treadmill or weight session in the office gym?
What do you do when weather foils your workout plans?
