Three Things Thursday: Admiration Edition

1. I will never get tired of people commenting on my bike. Yes, it’s sexy. Yes, it’s badass. Yes, it goes fast. Even the guys at the Bike Rack made a point about how gorgeous it is. This feedback only serves to make me feel better about the absurd amount of money I spent on it. Oh, and there’s that minor issue of it PERFORMING at my last race…

2. I’m really looking forward to the holiday weekend. Not only do I need a break from work (heh), but it’ll be a great chance for some quality training and some quality rest. Long run Saturday, long ride/brick Sunday, another long — but casual — ride on Monday, with some laying out and eating thrown in there, and you’ve got an ideal weekend.

3. I’m single — if SUPER single were a thing, that would be more accurate — and thoroughly enjoying it, but it’s come up (only half jokingly) twice in the past 24 hours. Hillary likes to play matchmaker at track and so had everyone in attendance say whether they were taken or not. Almost everyone fell in the single category. This says something about endurance athletes, I’m sure. Then, on a quick trip to the salon earlier today, I had this exact interaction with Kelly, the Vietnamese girl helping me out. [Watch the whole thing eventually, but skip to 6:27]

It took everything I had not to burst out laughing. “You cute, why you no have boyfriend?”

  1. hahahaha, love that. And yay for singleness…. or not. All my running/triathlete buddies are very not single. I feel all left out of the couplehood. Find a cute one in your group for me, k? 🙂

  2. Holiday weekends are my favorite times to stay in town, ever! Let me know what you’re up to in terms of the eating 🙂

  3. Unless your partner is your TRAINING partner, dating + Ironman is the ultimate test in time management and patience, for both sides! Once you enter the thick of it, finding the brain power to do anything else besides eat, train, sleep is pretty hard. The other night I felt like a Zombie figuring out what to eat. Simple task, yeah? Fortunately I was out of brains 😉

Have a great long weekend of training!
